Lata Medang

7:59 PM

Lata Medang is located in Kuala Kubu Baru, close to Sungai Chilling and Fraser Hill. It was about an hour's drive from Subang.

We took about two hours to go all the way up to the highest tier of the three tiered waterfall. At the lowest tier of the waterfall, we slid down the natural slide which was very very fun. I've never really enjoyed hiking but this hike was one I really liked. Perhaps I was with people who made me feel very comfortable– ones who asked if I needed a break (surprisingly, I didn't need any), asked if I was doing okay and told me to remind them if I wanted to stop for photos. I used my new pair of hiking shoes for this hike and trust me, I really needed them. Or else, I would've just used my Free Runs (something someone else in the group did) but I knew being the weakling that I am that I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

I admired the landscape as well. We came across a few areas that had fallen bamboo trees which reminded me a lot of a place I've been wanting to go since forever– Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto. Some areas required us to duck for a bit but that might also be due to the path we took. We saw yellow mushrooms, had a surprising whiff of petai that could not be found anywhere, saw a butterfly pee and had a very friendly puppy keep us company halfway down.

If anyone intends on going here in the future, just remember to bring snacks and maybe an extra pair of socks. It also helps to drive a small car because we ended up parking by the side of some narrow road. Also, map out which turns to take before you go on the hike because we took a wrong turn once.
